White & Case: Digital ESG review

Overview

The firm’s Global Pro Bono Practice is the centerpiece of their community engagement activities. Highlights of this impressive work are profiled each year in an annual review explaining how people from White & Case (WC) donated their time, knowledge, and expertise to make a positive impact on their communities and the world.

Global citizenship at WC encompasses pro bono work, legal education efforts, volunteer programs, charitable contributions, and their responsible business practices, which includes their responsibilities as signatories to the UN Global Compact.

The Challenge

The project called for designing and developing an engaging, user-friendly digital ESG report that would be accessible on the firm's website. The team was also tasked with differentiating the style of this review from past years and coordinating its visual identity with the firm’s global annual review as a sister piece.

One of the challenges involved curating compelling stories paired with powerful imagery to bring their annual accomplishments to life through messaging, photography, and infographics.

Execution

At first glance, the landing page looks to be an aerial view of a body of water, but in actuality, it is a bespoke creation by Roman De Giuli, who is an experimental filmmaker and fluid artist from Germany. His compositions consist of fluids, powders, and colors that are applied to paper to create vivid, three-dimensional scenes. He captures these fluids in motion with an 8k cinema camera and macro lens.

Designers, writers, and developers collaborated to create a visually appealing, responsive, and interactive digital report. They incorporated the company's branding, color palette, and visual assets to maintain a consistent look and feel, while giving this body of work its own identity.

Launch and Promotion

The digital ESG report was launched on the company's website, accompanied by a comprehensive communication plan that included email announcements to the partnership and clients, social media posts, a table tent in client-facing lobbies and conference rooms and presentations at internal meetings.
