Overview
The Apex Chamber of Commerce, with over 65 years of history, sought to modernize its identity under the leadership of David Bohm. Recognizing the need to engage a growing, diverse business community, the Chamber initiated a rebranding effort to refresh its dated image and enhance its outreach. Key elements included a brand audit, collateral redesign, and website refresh.
Objectives
Modernize the Chamber to attract a broader, diverse audience.
Conduct a brand audit to understand the breadth of work.
Evaluate the image, messaging, and digital presence.
Enhance the website’s user experience by improving taxonomy, content, and design.
Revitalize communication tools to boost member engagement.
Strategy
Phase 1: Brand and website audit A comprehensive audit uncovered inconsistencies in messaging, tone, and outdated visuals. The website review focused on improving user experience, including navigation, content hierarchy, and imagery.
Phase 2: Visual identity refresh In collaboration with Amy Bishop, Member Engagement Manager, a new visual concept was developed utilizing her professional photograph of The Depot, the Chamber’s historic headquarters. An illustrative filter transformed the image into a unique, hand-painted style, now central to the Chamber’s brand.
Phase 3: Collateral updates The annual magazine and community map covers were redesigned with clean, modern aesthetics incorporating The Depot illustration. Additionally, the sponsorship program and website have received significant updates.
Conclusion
The rebranding has revitalized the Chamber’s image, aligning it with its mission to support a dynamic business community. The modernized identity and updated materials have strengthened member engagement and positioned the Chamber as a leader in Apex’s economic development. Ongoing website enhancements ensure the Chamber remains relevant in its evolving community.
